REVELATIONS
25 Visual Artists Illustrating Stories of Pivotal Life Events

An ART/Word Production
February 21 to March 10, 2017

The ART/Word cooperative has been exhibiting illustrative works of art based on a wide variety of themes since 1981. This year's theme is Revelations. ART/Word members are invited to pair a written text and a work of art that conveys stories about sudden and surprising events that have led to significant insights, knowledge and perspectives.

The show runs 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Tuesdays through Saturdays, from February 21st through March 10th, 2017. On Thursday, March 9th, there will be extended gallery hours, from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

I have a painting on display in this exhibition that consists of artwork ranging in style and subject matter, showcasing each artist's unique approach and exploration of word combined with image.

Artists' Reception: Saturday, Feb. 28th, 7.00 – 10.00 pm
At 8.00 pm there will be a musical presentation on the theme of the exhibition: passages. I will be singing with Will McMillan, and Doug Hammer on piano. Light refreshments and wine will be provided.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Sister City Project between Newton, Massachusetts and San Juan, Nicaragua, whose goal is to improve education and healthcare, and to employ appropriate technology at the village level.

As many as forty-one artists have contributed to the exhibition, with over ninety art works on display. So this would give you an opportunity to buy some lovely original art while benefiting a great cause.

Art/Word: LYRICAL VISIONS

There are 25 artists taking part in the Lyrical Visions exhibition, which uses song lyrics as a creative starting point, and has inspired a mix of illustration, photography and three-dimensional art. Each piece is an original work of art displayed with the text of the song lyrics that inspired it.

ALL KIDS WANT TO BE HAPPY

Two of my photographs are on display in this exhibition at the Newton City Hall.

The work of eight Newton artists, and encompassing just 17 pieces, this small show is both heartwarming and poignant. It will be hanging until February 28th in the anterooms of the Mayor's Office, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, 2nd floor. The show is free, and handicap accessible (via elevator at south entrance).

SQUAM ART FAIR has a stellar line-up of over 30 artists from across North America and Canada who will be selling beautiful handmade work including: original paintings, jewelry, greeting cards, vintage dolls, handblown glass, art prints, photography, bags & purses, handbound books, music CD's, quilts and much more.

The work available for sale is exceptional and attendees are encouraged to walk about quaint and picturesque downtown Center Sandwich, and get their "passport" stamped at a variety of local shops and galleries.

The free "passport" can be picked up at the SQUAM ART FAIR, or at any of the participating venues: Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery, Willow Pond Antiques, Surroundings Art Gallery or Mocha Rizing. Once the passport is stamped at each venue, it can then be redeemed at the Corner House Inn for 10% off any entrée (lunch/brunch or dinner) for the entire month of September 2008.

SQUAM ART FAIR is the ending celebration of Squam Art Workshops, which is an extraordinary and inspirational four-day event hosted in Holderness, NH at the Rockywold-Deephaven Camps on the shores of Squam Lake.
